Remote Control Software is Not a Security Hole

Does installing remote control software constitute a major security hole?

Not particularly. Most pc remote control software will work over an encrypted connection, so the only real security threat is that someone will guess your username and password and control your PC remotely using the same software on the target machine that you would use to control it.

In reality, however, having an insecure password pretty much dooms any system hooked up to the internet to start off with, so there really is no extra security hole when using remote pc control software as long as it's done only through secure connections.
