Free PC Remote Control

Looking for free remote control software to control your PC through the internet?

If you're using Mac OS X or any other UNIX-based system, then any SSH client will work out for you. However, if you're using Windows you're going to need to install another solution.

The remote control software used on Windows by the free software community is based on VNC, for virtual network client. There are many free VNC clients for Windows, including Ultr@VNC, TightVNC, and RealVNC, all of which are sufficient for most basic pc remote control tasks.

There are also free trial or dumbed down versions of commercial remote pc control software, including LogMeIn, AccessDesk, and others. These are generally going to be easier to use than the VNC variety, though possibly more difficult to install on your buddy's computer from which you intend to access your own unless their clients are web-based.

In any event, there are a great deal of free solutions for your remote desktop control needs, so why not try a couple out and see which you like best?
